Frequently asked questions
How is an air waybill check digit worked out?
An IATA air waybill is a 3-digit airline prefix and an 8-digit serial. The last digit of the serial is the first seven digits divided by 7, keeping the remainder. For 176-12345675, 1234567 mod 7 is 5.
How does the ISO 6346 container check digit work?
Each of the first 10 characters gets a value (digits as they are, letters 10 to 38 skipping 11, 22 and 33), multiplied by 2 to the power of its position. The total mod 11 is the check digit, and a remainder of 10 is written as 0. CSQU 305438 3 is the standard worked example.
Does a valid check digit mean my shipment exists?
No. It only means the number is well formed. Only the carrier's own tracking can confirm a shipment and where it is.
Can I track a Hyre shipment here?
Hyre waybills are tracked on the Hyre tracking page at withhyre.com/track.
